Your gift makes all the difference

The Carlisle Conservation is in a unique position to address some of the challenges facing Carlisle by working with private landowners and other entities to protect land, maintain open space, and educate the community about conservation. With your support, CCF will continue to instill a responsibility for environmental stewardship by understanding the unique ecosystems within our town and the significance of preserving open spaces. Please consider a tax-deductible contribution today.

Gifts of Shares, ETFs & Mutual Funds

Gifts of Shares, ETFs & Mutual Funds

CCF is able to accept donations of shares, ETFs and mutual funds. This is a tax-advantaged way to donate. To summarize:

  • If shares, ETFs or mutual funds are transferred to us, the donor does not incur a capital gain on the appreciated value of the asset.

  • It is important that the asset is transferred to us rather than sold by the donor as the latter is a taxable event.

  • If the asset has been held by the donor for more than one year, the full market value of the gift can be used as a tax deduction. If less than one year, only the cost basis can be deducted.

  • Donations of this type of asset are capped at 30% of adjusted gross income.

  • Do not donate a losing asset as you will lose the ability to claim a capital loss
